Beware of Massive Drunk and Drive Checks in the City on
New Year’s Eve
Traffic and police have warned public that there will be massive drunk and drive checks in the city and cases will be registered on motorists if they get caught in drunk and driving checks during the New Year’s Eve. Drunk and drive checks will be conducted from Monday evening to Tuesday morning in all the major cities and towns of the state. All the Traffic and Police personnel’s are on duty and will check the vehicle drivers through the Breath Analyzer along with continuous patrolling.
In this regard, Police officials have set up banners warning the motorists at all the main junctions. Police said that, they will book cases under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act on those who drive under the influence of alcohol and also warned that motorists those who consume the alcohol beyond the limit will be sentenced to six months’ of imprisonment in the court. Unfortunately, Drunk and drive cases in New Year celebrations are high in the state capital Hyderabad. Last year, on December 31st, 2,499 drunk and drive cases were registered in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates. Police officials have seized a total of 1,309 two-wheelers, 276 cars and 86 autorickshaws.
