Electric buses to run from today 5th March 2019 in Hyderabad
Electric buses are on go from today (05-03-2019) in Hyderabad. These electric buses are especially introduced in the airport route. These buses will move in 5 routes, 2 from Miyapur and 20 from each Cantonment Bus Depot. The central government has allotted 100 power buses to the city to promote Eco- friendly pollution free traveling. These Electric buses services will be available to more areas after receiving rest 60 power buses.
The newly introduced electricity buses in the city are going to hit the roads on Tuesday 05-03-2019. RTC MD Sunil Sharma will launch a batch of 40 buses in the evening. Greater Hyderabad zone ED Vinod Kumar said that this launching of electric buses will be done at Miyapur-2.
These Electric buses arrived in the city six months ago. Several processes like route allotment, registration of buses and others were all completed on time and these buses were kept ready to hit the roads six months ago. In the meanwhile, the Assembly elections were held. The TSRTC and Olectra Greentech Company have decided to launch these new buses by the Chief Minister in the new government. However, the launch of these electric buses is delayed due to various other reasons also. Now due to the MLC elections, it again becomes an issue to launch them on the hands of the Chief Minister or the Transport Minister. In the end, the officials have decided to launch these Electric buses by the RTC MD.
Headed towards Airport
Till now, Metro luxury AC (Volvo) buses are running towards Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad. Now, these are getting replaced with pollution free Eco- friendly Electric buses. According to the RTC’s agreement with ‘Olectra Greentech’ organization, a batch of 40 Electric buses is made available now. With the arrival of other buses, we can expect buses for every 20-30 minutes to the airport from different routes of the city. At present, 36 buses are running towards the airport from 5 routes. RTC is planning to run 10 more buses to the airport. With this, the number of buses going from different parts of the city to the airport reached 46. Among these 46, 40 are electric buses and the rest are Metro luxury buses.
Connecting to Metro
As these Electric buses will be available from Wednesday 06-03-2019, RTC has decided to extend metro luxury AC buses services to various other routes. Kukatpally DVM Devadanam said that few buses will be run according to the Metro. The officials have decided to run rest of the buses in non-Metro routes and the paths that have demand. In this regard, 4 buses with number 195w will run from Miyapur to Wave Rock via JNTU, Hi-Tech city railway station, Cyber Towers, Mind space and Biodiversity. Also with a number 300/126, buses will be run from Miyapur, JNTU, Hi-Tech city, Cyber Towers, Mind space, Biodiversity, Shaikpet, Mehdipatnam, PV Narasimha Rao expressway till Uppal ring road.
